Hanoi, September 20 (Engineering Daily) -- The 50.2-hectare solar farm of BCG Bang Duong Energy JSC is to be constructed in Long An.
BCG Bang Duong Energy JSC is an affiliate of Bamboo Capital Group and is the first solar power farm in the locality.
On September 16, BCG Bang Duong held the ceremony of the solar power farm in the Southern province of Long An's Thanh Hoa District and the chairman Nguyen Ho Nam said "BCG Dang Duong is partnered with Syntegra Solar of Germany as the designer and monitor for the solar farm."
The project is designed to produce 40.6MW and the total investment capital amounts to $42 million. The construction is expected to be completed by June 2019.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) has approved more than 70 new projects to be put into operation before June 2019, with the total capacity of over 3,000MW. This amount far exceeds the estimated solar power output of 1,000MW targeted by 2020.
It is because the Vietnam’s potential for solar power generation is great. It is estimated that Vietnam has 1,600-2,700 sunlight hours per year and an average direct normal irradiance of 4-5 kWh per square metre, comparable to Thailand, the Philippines, Spain, and Italy.
In addition to the solar firm, the investor will develop a 110kV substation in Thanh Hoa District, build an internal road system and install a pump system for reservoirs and a 9km transmission line.
